Local Retailers Decorate for a Cause
Norfolk, Va. - One-hundred and three area merchants are hoping their merchandising does more than attract customers this holiday season. These merchants are competing in the second annual Retail Alliance Holiday Window Works contest for a chance to win $1500 and contribute funds to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD). Each participating retailer decorated their windows adhering to the theme “Holiday Magic,” in an effort to raise money for CHKD. A comparable program benefiting the Ronald McDonald House is being conducted by Retail Alliance members in the Smith Mountain Lake area.
The contest is separated into two categories: the “People’s Choice Award” and the “Retail Alliance Holiday Window Works Award.” The location collecting the most amount of money in canisters donated to CHKD will win the “People’s Choice Award.” One winner from each district and one over-all winner will be chosen for the “Retail Alliance Holiday Window Works Award,” which is determined by a panel of judge’s examining windows adherence to theme, use of product, color, etc.
Winners will be announced on December 16, 2008 in Smith Mountain Lake and on December 19, 2008 in Hampton Roads. The 2008 Holiday Window Works winners will be posted on the Retail Alliance website, www.retail-alliance.com on December 20.
There are still a few days left for Hampton Roads to decide the “People’s Choice Award.” Be sure to visit your participating location by Sunday, December 14 to vote for your favorite window!
